Anders Parker was the main force behind experimental indie-rock band Varnaline. He has also released four critically acclaimed solo albums and most recently has been a part of the Woody Guthrie project New Multitudes with Jay Farrar, Jim James and Will Johnson.  Kendall Meade is most known for her band Mascott, described by Spin magazine as “a tender indie rock project that combines soft piano and guitar pop with diary-like lyrical intimacy.” She has also performed guitarist, bass player, keyboardist and/or backup singer duties for Sparklehorse, Lloyd Cole, Helium and The Spinanes. This was a nice laid back indie album.  The first couple songs really stuck out to me.  Read a full review on the Alternative Root.

Concrete Knives – Be Your Own King – Indie
Some may see them as the worthy heirs to the B-52s, while others will find in their music a flavour of the early naughties New York music scene.Fronted by both male and female leads, with strong and distinctive vocal style. Concrete Knives is an anthem machine for you to chant to in unison.Their compositions dusted off Dad’s vinyl records, incorporating new tones where vintage keyboards and organs fly through syncopated rhythm sections. Eat Skull – III - Rock
Eat Skull are a quartet hailing from Portland, Oregon, co-masterminded by Rob Enbom (former bushwacker in the ranks of Hospitals and Hole Class) and another original Hospital, Rod Meyer. Like their brethren and forebears, Eat Skull runs a post pattern deep beyond pop and punk. I have never heard of Eat Skull before, and with a name like that I expected some heavy rock.  I was surprised to hear this lo-fi garage punky sound on the first track. Recommended Tracks: Dead Horses, Stupid Moon, Summer Inside

Iceage – You’re Nothing – Punk
Iceage is a punk rock band from Copenhagen, Denmark. Signed to Tambourhinoceros in Denmark and Dais Records in the USA. They were then noticed (and picked up by) What’s Your Rupture? Records for international release, their debut album New Brigade was released in January 2011 in Denmark and on June 21, 2011, in the US.  This is a very garagey punk album, which honestly is not a personal preference.  I posted the early stream of this album on Twitter and there was a lot of positive feedback.  Read a full review on The Thrill Of It All.
Recommended Tracks: In Haze, Everything  Drifts, Awake

Inc. – no world- Electronic
no world is Andrew and Daniel Aged’s second release as inc. (formerly Teen Inc.), and it refines and improves on 2011′s 3 EP. It was hard for me to  pick out 3 songs, not because the album was so good or bad, but because every song sounds boringly the same.  The lead singer reminds me a lot of Justin Timberlake.  Read a full review on The Line of Best Fit.

Spectac & Shakim – For the People – Hip Hop
I couldn’t find any information on them as a duo.Paul Morrin, a.k.a. Spectac, has been producing odd un-categorisable music since his very first “track” in 1993 entitled: “Space Rabbit”. Dubbed and crafted from delay pedal and a Yamaha PSR-400 keyboard, with the illustrious Dublin techno-legend Platinum Ray, and that crazy Caffo guy you see around town. “In these early days we had no clue of midi etc.” states Morrin, “It was all guitar pedals, record players, and scrap metal”, he says. From the very first song I was hooked by their conscious lyrics.  The old school beats were also very catchy. Read a full review on New Music Releases.
